Childhood as an NPC can be pretty bleak… unless you and your friends are battling an Iron Giant just when The Chocobros happen to make a timely pit stop in your village.

Square Enix secured the rights to with Florence + The Machine’s upcoming cover of Stand by Me as the soundtrack for the game’s cinematic trailer.

With that as our starting point, we drew inspiration from the film of the same name, creating a parallel between the themes of friendship and camaraderie that define both stories: a childhood adventure brought to life.

The film marks the first live-action appearance of Final Fantasy XV's characters. To maintain their mystique, we carefully shrouded their presence, using quick, obscure cuts that hint at their identities without revealing too much.

The Iron Giant is an intimidating, cult-favourite villain that has appeared in almost all the Final Fantasy games. This is the first time it has ever been envisioned in a live-action setting. We tasked Luma Pictures (the visual effects studio behind Iron Man 3, Black Panther, Guardians of the Galaxy 2 etc.) with bringing the Iron Giant and the fight sequences into the real world, while honoring the spirit and history of the highly revered game.
